Feeling Romantic?

We all have a romantic side to us and let’s be honest, isn’t it nice the excitement you feel when you have organised something special for a partner, friend or secret lover. Whether it’s a surprise dinner, bunch of roses, quality chocolates or a Romantic Hamper; it makes you feel good inside knowing they are going to love your thoughtful gift.

Valentines Day falls on a Sunday this year which throws us all out a little. The giver, the receiver and us the gift creator! It’s so much easier when the Romantic Day falls on a weekday, when everyone is at work. It’s so easy to pick up the phone order a Valentines Day gift, have it sent to their work and then hear for hours how they were the centre attention and were envied by all their workmates as they doted over your gift.

Sunday the 14th poses a bit of an issue!

  • Will they be home?
  • How do you check to see if they will be at home without looking suss,
  • Do you even have their home address?
  • If you already live with the person will it have the same impact if a delivery arrives and you are there?

We’ve thought of the PERFECT WAY to get around this. It will still give the effect you want, if not better.

“Send your Valentines Day Hamper “before” the weekend and word your greeting card in a way so that the gift is to be enjoyed by them or for you both over the Romantic Weekend! It could almost be like setting up a Romantic Date!

For Example:

  • You could send a Picnic Basket full of wine, cheese, chocolates, pastes & shortbread. On your Greeting card you might offer that you both go on a Picnic. (Be sure to have a Romantic Picnic Spot in mind if they say yes!)
  • You could heat things up a little and send our Lover’s Spa Kit or 12 Romantic Dates Hamper and suggest you spend the whole weekend together.

Help to break a Guinness World Record this Christmas

The Christmas season is here, decorations have gone up, theres excited children planning their wish list to Santa & an extra spring in everyones step knowing the party season is upon us.  

As a gift basket company this is the busiest time of year for us. Its humbling to see so many family, friends and colleagues sending Christmas hampers to each other, however it’s heartbreaking to hear that so many people in particular children miss out on the magic of Christmas due to economic struggle.

In the past we have donated our left over Christmas stock; puddings, shortbread & Christmas cake to the Salvation army. It leaves a lovely feeling that we can contribute with a Christmas meal for the less fortunate. We’ve donated hampers to fundraising activities as well as added a few extra items to someone’s hamper as a nice gesture, whom we knew didn’t have a lot to spend but bought from us to share their spirit of Christmas with a loved one.

As our business has grown we have felt the need to continue to offer our help where we can.

We recently came across the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal, which is a fantastic idea to help brighten Christmas Day for so many, in particular children.

We have sifted through our plush teddy stock and have put aside a bundle of new teddies to send to Kmart to help them reach their Guinness Book of Record Goal.  

We all think this is such a lovely idea and hope you can find the time to do them same.

Firstly Megan, thank you for inviting me onto this discussion.
 
 
It’s interesting to see the suggestions made about what everyone thinks would be an ideal gift.
 
From another perspective; I’m General Manager and co owner of a national gift basket company, Hobby Hampers. As you would know Christmas is a massive time of year for us; one we start planning back in May for the “big” rush. We begin designing our Christmas hampers & gift baskets and order the stock as early as we can to ensure we are well and truly ready for the festive season.
When we created Hobby Hampers we wanted to steer clear of the basic basket and theme our hampers so we knew they would be practical; would get used, be enjoyed & give a great impression. Whilst we still use baskets for some we also use theme boxes, towers, buckets, trays, gardening pots, colanders, potty’s, nappy buckets, party pack tubs and so the list goes on.
 
It’s interesting to see the ideas posted under Traditional and A Bit Different at the start of your thread.
Over the years we have designed hampers to include:

We absolutely LOVE having companies or individuals ring us and ask us to design their gifts and love it even more if they want them a little different. It makes our day more interesting.
The beauty of hampers is you can put whatever you want in them. Whether you do it yourself or ring a company to to them; the options are endless.

Melbourne Cup: Can you pick the winner?

Yes it really is the race that stops the nation. Did you know the first Melbourne Cup race was run on the 7th November 1861. The winner was Archer and first prize was a gold watch & 170 pounds. How times have changed! Every year homes, offices and just about any location that has a TV, radio or computer and surrounded by amateur & professional punters all hoping to turn their Melbourne Cup bets into a fortune.

Each year we supply offices with gift hampers designed around the Melbourne Cup that are used in sweepstakes. The combination of French Champagne, Australian Sparkling wine and a selection of gourmet items means that more often than not the winner of these hampers are talked into unwrapping the gift & sharing with their colleagues before the end of the day!
